A shot of Samsonite was fired at the face of a stone drift by electric battery 82 yards away while deceased and another man were near the shot. The man at the battery, who was acting as shot-firer in the absence of the authorised shot firer, thought the cable was being tested previous to its attachment to the shot. There had been great carelessness about the shot firing, but it was doubtful whether the place was due to which the Explosives Order applied. The other man was slightly injured by the explosion.
