- The No.9. Dip is an engine plane, 10 feet wide and 6 feet high, worked on the endless rope system, the rope running underneath the tubs. Sets of 8 to 10 tubs with a clutch bogie at each end run at a speed of 4 miles per hour. At the passing places there is only about 6 inches clearance between the tubs. Refuge holes are provided as required by the General Rule. Deceased was hurrying outbye at the end of his shift as he was afraid he might lose the train in which he travelled home and he seems to have had his head down and walked into an empty set at a passing place. He was caught and dragged 6 or 7 yards in-bye before the set was stopped by some men who saw the accident and who brought the electric signal wires together.
