- Details of Event
- A small width of top Thick Coal on each side of a main dip road was being worked back. The work was back to an old pass-bye, and deceased was there sitting resting in a manhole, formed by a wooden cog and nob of coal, when a fall of coal occurred, crushing him down with his head between his knees, and fracturing his spine, from which injury he died 5 days later. The working of the coal all round this pass-bye put it on weight, but it was well timbered and considered safe.
