Died at Pontypool Hospital on the 13th May under the effects of chloroform, preparatory to an operation for an abscess. It was alleged that he strained himself when at work at Varteg Hill Colliery, some time in the preceding January, but the occurrence was not reported to any official, and there is nothing to connect the abscess with an accident.
