23 October 1935: Fife Miner Fatally Injured - Yesterday afternoon John Hynds (28), 41 Kirkland Road, Methil, was fatally injured while at work in the Wellesley Colliery, owned by the Wemyss Coal Co. During cutting operations a large piece of coal slipped and struck him down. Hynds was so severely injured that he died before he could be removed to hospital. He leaves a widow and two children.
