Knocked down by a runaway tram. He was cleaning the incline leading to rubbish tip when two empty trams which were part of a journey being let down got free ran down and broke deceased's arm. On the fourth day gangrene set in and his arm amputated but he died from general blood poisoning. The shackle-pin some means got knocked out.
