Glasgow Herald 15 February 1940 page 5 col 1 14 February 1940: MINER KILLED IN PIT ACCIDENT - A fatal accident occurred today at No.1 Pit of the Bardykes Colliery, Blantyre. The victim was Alexander Hutchison, miner, about 58, who resided at Logan Street, Blantyre. He was pinned by a fall of stones and dirt from the roof. On being extricated, he was conveyed to the colliery's ambulance room, but died before medical aid arrived. He leaves a wife and family. [Evening Telegraph 14 February 1940]
