13 December 1932: Fatality At Gilmerton Colliery - Alexander Hutchison (37), an employee of Gilmerton Colliery Co. (Ltd.), was instantaneously killed yesterday in the pit at Gilmerton. Hutchison was a well-known figure in the village and acted as organiser of various events including, a fancy dress pageant for Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
