- 7 December 1937: Shale Miner Killed - Henry Hunter (27) a shale miner, 64 Livingstone Station, Mid Calder, was killed to-day in an accident in No.26 Shale Mine, West Calder. Hunter was putting up props to secure the roof in his working place, when he was partly buried under debris. He died shortly afterwards. Hunter leaves a wife and one child.
