He and another were tramming along a gantry between the crusher and the binns when, owing to the revolving and tip waggons, which they were moving, not having been properly fastened, the waggon left the rails and went over the side of the unfenced gantry, falling 15 or 16 feet. Bastian falling with it received fatal injuries although at first not considered very serious.
