Deceased and another man were engaged in widening a crut, the roof of which was supported on stretchers let into the strata on either side of the road. While setting a prop or foreset under the end of one of the stretchers preparatory to getting the rock down at the end of it, a large fall occurred, partly from the side and partly from the roof reeling the stretcher and prop and two other stretchers. It is probable that the jar caused by knocking the prop into position disturbed the strata and caused it to fall.
