He seems to have disturbed the ground by chipping it to make room for a cog on top of the framing of the first pair of timber which had just been set in an old heading in the 3/4 seam and which was crossed by a double road for the purpose of extending the mechanical haulage. The timbering of the double road had been completed. Three pairs of timber within 9 feet were discharged by the fall weighing 20 tons.
