He was hewing in a skirting just on the inbye side of a 2.5 feet rise hitch. The right-hand side of the face was about 4 feet 8 inches from the hitch and the face was 5.25 feet wide. There were no props set in the place at all which was contrary to the timbering rule in force. It fixed the maximum distance apart at which roof supports should be set at 3 feet. The stone swung away from the edge of the hitch.
