- Details of Event
- He and two other men were working in a loose-end lift 5 yards wide of a robbery or broken flat, the coal being 7 feet 9 inches thick, and the loose-end was broken to some extent by weight breaks. He was standing working from the goaf side of the lift getting the loose-end coal down when a portion of the top coal 4 feet thick, 4 feet long and 1 foot 6 inches wide, came away at a breaker unexpectedly knocking him back onto the floor. He died whilst being taken out of the mine.
