- Details of Event
- He was engaged with others in rising a staple, and had just arrived at the face to relieve his partners, who were then engaged in taking a cauldron bottom from the roof. Suddenly, without warning, a large triangular shaped stone fell, the edge of which struck deceased on the head killing him instantly. The stone measured about 8 feet on each side and 3 feet at the thickest part. The roof was well supported but the stone canted out seven props, and came off at a wet parting and between fault leader and a slip. The place was worked with due care.
