Details of Event
He was working in the longwall face of a highly inclined seam, and the coal and stone above were undercut and overhanging. He was preparing to set a prop under the coal in order that he could pull down the stone safely. He sounded the stone and thought it safe, but a ton of it fell upon and so severely injured him that he died on January 21st, 1914.
