- Details of Event
- Deceased was hewing alone in a lift in the broken or pillar workings of the Low Main seam when a piece of coal ramble and top coal fell off the face on to him from an unseen slippy back and so injured him that he died a few minutes after being brought to the surface. The place had been inspected by the deputy in accordance with the regulations. The Local Inspectors reported with reference to the fatality in our opinion the same was 'an accident which no one could foresee the coal having come off at a lie over back'.
