- 24 September 1935: COWDENBEATH MINER'S SUDDEN DEATH - Collapse at Work - George Hogg, who resided at Thistle Street, Cowdenbeath, a well-known Cowdenbeath man has died in very tragic circumstances. Hogg who was 66 years of age, was employed as a miner. At his work at a late hour last night in Glencraig Colliery, at Lochore, he collapsed and fell. Assistance was at once forthcoming, but Hogg had expired immediately. Deceased leaves a widow and a large grown-up family. A sad feature is that fourteen months ago a son, Peter Hogg, was killed in the same colliery. [Evening Telegraph 25 September 1935]
