Details of Event
Fall of stone from the side of Marriott's sinking shaft. The stone fell from between two joints and injured his leg. Blood poisoning supervened and he died on 5th July. The shaft seems to be carefully examined weekly from the cradle or scaffold, and daily from the hoppet.
