Deceased was engaged in relegging a bar on a main haulage-road when the next bar (an old tram rail 6.75 inches deep 6-inch flange) 5 feet away snapped, causing some roof to fall. The bar was loaded with not more than 11 tons and the space was 10 feet. The bar was not supporting the roof, but formed part of a false roof.
