- His duty was to receive the skips on an aerial ropeway carrying small coal from the screens to a washer hopper, empty and right them and fasten the catch and then put them on the return rope. By some means he was carried off the top of the hopper by one of the skips. Holding on by the front edge by both hands he was carried about 45 feet when he lost hold with one hand and in trying to regain it he pulled the catch and the skip turned over and he plunged to the ground, a of 40 feet and was killed.
