- Details of Event
- His marrow had gone to the face of a skirting carrying the gear while deceased followed with a crossing balk. When the leading man got to the face where a lift had to he crossed off he found a full tub there He lifted the back wheels on to the road meaning to lower it a bit having first put a drag in. The tub immediately ran down the road the gradient being 4 inches per yard. Hindson stepped to one side but there was not sufficient clearance, and when the tub passed he fell down. He died in Sunderland Infirmary next day from his injuries. His death was due to bad judgement on the part of his mate who was a most experienced man. He had not realised the road was so steep.
