- Details of Event
- The machine had cut up to the haulage props and deceased released the rope. The tension was thus taken off the haulage prop which had been acting as a sprag to a large piece of rock, and a stone weighing half a ton, fell from the roof and struck deceased. His knee was forced into his abdomen and he was fatally injured. Two stallmates, a deputy and a contractor had examined the stone within half an hour of the accident and found it perfectly sound.
