Deceased and his mate were ridding some fallen stones preparatory to a stopping being built in a bord end. On the previous shift they had unsuccessfully tried to pinch down some stone on the right side, and they again tried during the next shift. Two temporary props were then set to support this stone, but were afterwards removed in order that some bottom stone might be taken up, and a permanent prop was set further back. Unfortunately it was no use as a support for the stone, which afterwards came away and killed deceased.
