When about to clean cut the saw-box which contains water for cooling the saw as well as catching the dust, he went to move the belt front the working pulley to the loose pulley, the lever for the purpose not moving it sufficiently. In doing so his hand got caught in the belt or he slipped on the bench-bed and fell against it, resulting in a fracture of the base of his skull from which he died on the 3rd December.
