- Details of Event
- Deceased, in order to loosen the rope, was riding on the first wagon of a set of five railway wagons, which were being drawn up all incline by a rope from a stationary engine. When nearing the top the engineman noticed something was wrong stopped the engine, and deceased was found lying dead in the 4-feet way, having been run over by the wagons, and that three of the wagons were derailed. There was no evidence to show whether the wagons getting off tile rails had thrown deceased off, or whether in falling off on to the rails he had derailed the wagons.
