- 17 October 1917: Lochore Miner's Compensation – In Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Thursday, Sheriff Umpherston decided an action for compensation in which the parties were John Hetherington, miner, 66 Waverley Street, Lochore, and the Fife Coal Company, Ltd. On 17th October, Hetherington sustained injuries in the Mary Pit, his right hand being crushed and burst. He had been engaged in light work and claimed 8s 6d per week. The Sheriff awarded him 7s 6d per week as from 17th November 1915 to 25th October, 1917 and 5s per week from 25th October; the compensation to be under deduction of £10 13s paid by the respondents.
