- Details of Event
- This man was drawing a prop from beneath the last plank to be taken out of a broken jud. When he knocked out the prop the stone broke down the plank and fastened his head and shoulders on the floor. The breaking off timber was only 18 inches from the plank that came down. He was using a drawing axe. The stone was only six inches thick at the thickest part, and would therefore have given indication that it was bad, if it had been sounded. Probably he and the two hewers with him were anxious to get finished and get home, and in consequence did not exercise the amount of care they should have done.
