He was bringing his first full set outbye at the commencement of his shift. It was said that he was in the habit of leading his pony with the first set, and it is probable that he was doing so on this occasion and slipped down, the front tub running over him. The road dipped slightly and he had two iron dregs in the set of four tubs. He was said to be a most cautious driver.
