- Details of Event
- He was working in a split 10 feet wide, using 3 inches per yard, which was holed into the goal at the left side of the face, thus having a width of 6 feet at the right side, and under which he had kirved for a distance of 4 feet. He was found lying off the bottom much clear of any coals by a putter who went in to him, and he had evidently been knocked there by part of the jud which had fallen away. A jud prop had been, set under the coal, but apparently not in such a manner as to prevent the jud coming away from two slips at the back side, and it had been canted out. He died two days later.
