Deceased had complained of feeling unwell a quarter of an hour before the accident and one of the men who was with him in the cage ascending to the surface stated that before he fell out of the cage his lamp dropped from his hand. The shaft and cage were in good order and nothing untoward occurred during the journey likely to cause a person to fall from the cage. The presumption is that he had taken suddenly ill.
