- Details of Event
- Whilst cleaning up on the colliery railway sidings, he was knocked down and run over by a N.E.R. engine. The engine, with van behind, was moving slowly without steam down a gentle gradient round a slight curve, and the driver had not noticed the deceased. A colliery locomotive was at the same time pushing some full waggons on a parallel line near where the deceased was working, and it is surmised that in stepping away from the colliery engine he bad moved in front of the N.E. engine. There was a space of 12 feet between the two roads.
