- Deceased and another pikeman were working in a Thick Coal stall, about 4 yards by 4 yards by 8ft. high surrounded by an old gob. They were uncapping a tree, preparatory to drawing it (and others) to drop three feet of coal, when the reeled out, followed by other trees and the collapse of the roof over the whole stall. Deceased was buried and was dead when got out. The ether man fortunately escaped with slight injuries.
