- Details of Event
- Died 9th September. While deceased was descending a stair from the pit head to the ground level he jumped on to the side rail evidently with the intention of sliding down but overbalancing himself fell to the ground a distance of 16 or 17 feet. He landed on his face and belly and, although he was able to walk home must have sustained some serious internal injury. Studs have been placed at intervals on the rails to prevent boys sliding down.
