He was sparring with another boy who had been chaffing him. When running after the latter he ran against a sprag, which clearly was not securely set, and knocked it out, causing the coal to fall upon him. The sprag had been up from the day previous, and the manager and overman passed it a few hours before when as they allege, it appeared to be in order.
