A shot of about 20lbs. of gunpowder bad been fired in a staple 21 feet deep and 8 feet diameter, and about one hour afterwards deceased want down to give a jowl to a drift approaching the staple. He was overcome by the fumes and was not got out until after an interval of 40 minutes. He was dead when got out.
