- Hart was employed to slacken the lashing chains in front of empty sets of (three) tubs, before they reached a five feet curve pulley, using an iron slipper two feet six inches in length for the purpose. Apparently he had been taking food, and in the hurry to slacken a chain, he got crushed against the pulley. The pulley was fenced and a fork fence hung over the rope itself.
