Deceased was chipping the roof with his pick in order to loosen a chuck for the purpose of withdrawing it from the waste, when a stone fell front the roof upon him, inflicting injuries from which he died on 3rd June. The fall was 7 feet 8 inches long by 2.5 feet by 1 foot thick. One prop was canted cot by the fall. The safety contrivance was near him at the time, but he was unable to use it until he had first of all slightly loosened the top of the chock.
