- Deceased and another hewer had just commenced to work at a new lift, 8 yards wide, to be taken up a pillar in some "brokens," when, as deceased was getting coal in the fast end nook he uncovered a slip in the roof ' which released a large panel of "blue" stone 10 inches thick, which came down over the whole width of the lift. It was stated that 5 or 6 props were run out. His marrow fortunately had just gone down the bord to fetch some gear.
