Details of Event
Electrocuted in consequence of a leakage of electricity due to a fault in the switch box of a small haulage plant. The current was insufficiently earthed, and it ran along a hauling rope suspended on sheaves fixed at the side of a roadway, and back again along the rope lying along the floor of a very wet heading. The deceased had gone to the assistance of a fireman who was the first to receive a shock, and immediately he gripped the rope he fell back dead. Four other men were more or less affected by shock.
