- Details of Event
- Deceased was holing at a spurn left at the top end of a drift in the Winpenny Seam where the measures are inclined at about 1 in 1.5 when a fall of roof about 3ft. square and 9ins. thick occurred just behind him reeling out a prop set about 4ft. away from the coal. Part of the fall struck him and caused injuries from which he died on the following day. The roof was wet and near by there was a fault which seemed to have produced unusual slips and partings in the strata from one of which the fall occurred.
