He was engaged in erecting some stocks in a loose box, in order that a horse, suffering from might he slung. He had got inside the stocks to complete the manger when the horse gave a plunge forward and crushed Harper's head against the manger. Up to that moment the horse had made no movement and the sudden plunge was probably due to his ailment. The conditions were such that the horse had to be put into the stocks before they could be completed.
