In charge of a horse drawing 5 waggon laden with fitting, his son walked behind, deceased at the horse’s head leading it; in passing over a V crossing his toot got fast lit the rails, called out "I am fast," the horse stopped, the waggon went forward, front wheel passed over his leg, fracturing it. Was taken to the Rochdale Infirmary, amputation on the 13th, died on 28th.
