- Deceased and his marrow (who was slightly injured) were sumping in opposite the road head in a longwall place in the Hutton seam, when a stone 4 feet by 3 feet and 1 foot thick, fell from the roof about 1 feet from the face. The stone was relieved by a slip on one side which was not visible until after it fell. The deputy had just examined and jowled the roof and had not left the place when the accident happened. There was a good supply of loose props. The Local Inspectors reported that in their opinion it was a pure accident’
