- 7 February 1927: Bothwell – Colliery Accident – On Monday afternoon while Hugh Hamilton brushing contractor, residing at Cross Roads, Burnbank, Hamilton, was preparing to fire a shot while at work in Bothwell Castle Colliery, a heavy fall took place and he was badly crushed, sustaining injury to collar bone, fracture of the ribs, and injury to the foot.
