Deceased worked in a narrow heading 5.5 feet wide, the roof of which was formed by a 6-inch coal, overlaid by 9 inches of batt. No timber was used. He went outbye to get a drink and when 10 yards from face the roof coal and batt suddenly fell across whole width of place and for a length of 9 feet, disclosing a hitherto unseen slip at one side of and parallel to the heading.
