Deceased had been taking down side in order to repair a tramroad, and when clearing out a hole in the pavement, preparatory to setting a prop, a fall of roof occurred and fatally injured him. The removal of the side evidently caused the fall and it would have been safer to have set a prop to the roof before taking down the side. Hamby was, however, an experienced miner.
