Details of Event
Fall of top coal from roof of main dip at working face. The roof coal was unsound and was timbered to within 10ft. of the face of dip. Two more bars should have been put in but reliance was placed on an apparent improvement in the strength of the top coal. The top coal fell suddenly over the whole area between the face and the timber, 10ft. by 7ft. by 2.5ft. thick. Another man was injured.
