A tub got off the way at a turn and he went to assist the putter to get it on again and when doing so his lighted candle ignited a small quantity of gas which had collected in a gullet in the roof. He was badly burnt on his hands, arms and legs, and died on the 24th. The putter was scorched on the back of his hands and arms, but recovered.
