Machinery – He was sitting at the coal face about 2 yds. Behind a disc coal cutter which was cutting uphill on an inclination of 1 in 3, when the machine slipped back a distance of 12 ft., owing to the chain by which the haulage sheave was fixed giving way; he was caught by the revolving disc and killed.
